Got HENNY wings?

I’ve been craving all types of food that I can only find in nyc since I moved somewhere in the woods lol. Which brings me back to some good ol days at “Dallas BBQ’s” great wings, Texas size drinks (with the extra shots) and the decent cornbread. So I was craving some Henny wings I didn’t quite make it how BBQ’s makes it but i put my own little twist on it and it still came out BOMB! Here’s the recipe below:

The items you’ll need are as follows

  1. 1 pound chicken wings or wingettes
  2. 1 stick of butter
  3. 1 cup of Hennessy
  4. 1/4 cup soy sauce
  5. 1/4 cup Worcesterchire sauce
  6. 3/4 cup ketchup
  7. 1/2 cup yellow mustard
  8. 1 cup of honey
  9. 1 tsp black pepper
  10. 1/2 tsp white pepper
  11. 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
  12. 1/2 tsp paprika


Let’s get busy 

Rinse your chicken off with vinegar (white) and some lime juice should be rinsed off about 3 times (this is optional but this is how I always cook my chicken trust me you’ll taste the difference) then pat your chicken dry with paper towels. Next you can either place chicken in a bowl to the be seasoned or in a resealable bag.

To season your chicken you will need:

  1. 2 tbs Adobo with pepper
  2. 1tsp Black pepper
  3. A dash of jerk season
  4. 1 sazon packet (no salt)
  5. 1 tsp chicken rub
  6. 1tsp complete seasoning
  7. Half a tsp ancho chile powder

Add all ingredients to chicken in bowl or ziplock bag and mix it so every piece of chicken is well seasoned.

Here I used a ziplock bag because it’s easier and when I’m done just toss it out 🙂

After chicken is seasoned place in fridge till ready to be fried

Time for the main staple of the dish the SAUCE 

Get two pots one sauce pan and one medium put, put half stick of butter in each pot. In the sauce pan add the Hennessy slowly you don’t want it to splash because a small flame will occur.


Let that slowly simmer

In the other pot add ingredients 2-8 mixing between additions . After the honey let the sauce slowly simmer then add in the Hennessy sauce that the liquor should be cooked out from. Next add the dry ingredients and let sauce boil lightly.


In a medium pot heat some vegetable oil for frying the chicken you will need about 2 cups of oil. Medium high heat, heat oil after about 6-8 min oil should be hot you can test it by putting a dash of flour in pot of flour sizzles away fast that it evaporates the oil is ready. If the flour just floats the oil is not ready.

For this recipe we will not be frying our chicken with flour because we don’t wanna risk it getting soggy with the sauce but either way is fine.

My chicken turned out to be about 14 pcs I fried about 6 at a time you don’t wanna over crowd the pot you want everything cooked evenly 

Fry each batch of chicken for about 15 min if you feel that it can cook a little longer but scared to burn the chicken you can place in the oven after frying and draining oil with paper towel.

So now your chicken is done frying and “What’s next?” You might ask well it’s time to get SAUCYYYYY 🙂

 


So there you have it simple and fun right 🙂 you can top your chicken with some diagonally sliced scallions for presentation and a little crunch
